corporate basics

Though I no longer work in an office, professionally I still like to make a good impression. I love to stick with neutrals like grey, white and black and simple cuts that are more versatile.

When I did have to dress more corporate for work, I struggled with being comfortable, stylish and professional. I did find having a few good basics (like this blazer) helped make multiple outfits.

I wish I had these pants back then! They are pretty much the dress pant equivalent of sweats, complete with elastic waistband. But no one would ever know by looking at them.

This shirt has made high rotation status very quickly in my closet, and looks more pulled together with the front half tucked in. The high neck makes it conservative enough for work, even though I wear it on the weekend too! Which is another key to enjoying office dressing – buying pieces you love and can wear for multiple occasions.

The blazer I have had since I was 21, I almost died spending more than $200 on it at the time but it has lasted and remained a key piece in my wardrobe. Jackson (yorkie) always gets so curious when I’m taking photos. So does my pup Pepper, you can check out more photos of that on my instagram page.

I’ve already talked about these shoes in a recent post here, but they seriously go with everything. Now if only we could get the really warm weather back so my toes stop freezing when I wear them…
