early summer essentials

It might only be May but it really feels like summer around here! I spent yesterday lounging by the pool reading and today I even wore these shorts to work because it was so hot.

1) Lightweight Sweater

Perfect for summer layering when mornings or nights get a little chilly. Great when the air con is turned too high too! This one is even a little shimmery.

2) Dressy Shorts

Kind of an oxymoron I know, but I like having a more formal alternative to denim. Takes you from day to night and the loose fit (and elastic waist) make them more comfy.

Shop similar here, here and here from Forever 21, all under $22!

3) Crossbody Bag

Who wants to carry a huge handbag when you’re frolicking around in the sunshine? At summer events, festivals or just walking around you will thank yourself for leaving your hands free and adding a cute accent to your outfit with a crossbody bag.

Check out this post for options!

4) Flat Sandals

Again, summer for me means enjoying the weather and usually by choosing to walk everywhere when I can. For this I love flat strappy sandals. Best to break them in BEFORE the extended walking and stick to real leather so they stretch to fit perfectly, stand up to wear and don’t get too sweaty.

See my gladiator picks here, but also love these from H and M for under $50!

5) Pedicure

Pamper those toes before showing them off in your sandals! If you don’t want to shell out for a salon, prep and paint those toes yourself. I stick with black most of the time, but I’m thinking of going bright coral with my next mannie/pedi…big life decisions I know.

Grab a pair of sunniness and you’re ready to go!

What can’t you live without for early summer weather? Whatever it is just don’t forget the sunscreen.
