how to wear fall trends now

Here in Vancouver, we’ve been blessed with an amazingly hot summer. So hot we are facing water shortages and forest fires, which is the major environmental downside to an unseasonably warm few months. However, even in these soaring temperatures I am being bombarded with fall/winter trends for the upcoming months. Like it or not, time is flying by and soon August and back to school shopping will be upon us!

I haven’t been a student in a long time but somehow the urge for new beginnings and beautiful fall clothing still hits me each year. There is usually a point mid summer where I start thinking about layering and longing for the crisp fall air. That feeling lasts about until it actually starts getting chilly and then I’m back to day dreaming about summer.

But in the mean time, I decided I can still enjoy some of the things I’m looking forward to about September right now! Even though it’s way too hot for layers, I can still wear booties (fall staple!) with shorts or a dress for a bit of an edgier look. One of my favourite fall colours is a deep berry, so I wore a dark lip to incorporate that. This matte long wear lip colour by Sephora stays put even after eating! Still seasonally appropriate, but a nice node to what’s to come.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I’m off to Toronto for a conference and a quick visit home next week. Check out my Instagram for photos and updates along the way.

Shorts: H&M (similar), Top: Aritzia (tank version), Shoes: The Bay (similar), Bag: similar and similar from Forever 21

  1. Vancouver has been scorching this summer; so HOT that on certain days that I am bewildered as to what to wear. Like yourself; I am already re-arranging my closet for the Fall as it is soon to creep upon us and for fashion/style purposes it is definitely my favorite season! One of my favorite staples for Fall is definitely booties and I LOVE how you have incorporated into your look above to really add some personal flair to your outfit.
