throwback

It always makes me a little nostalgic for childhood when something like overall shorts come back into fashion. While these are certainly not my full length corduroy overalls I wore for grade two picture day, the clipping in remains the same. The key for me to not feeling like a little kid is pairing them with heels and a very adult white button down shirt.

I really like the look of a shirt tied around the waist of overalls, but a plaid seemed to take me right back to elementary school so I used a leather jacket instead. Since the overalls are a bit shapeless it brings some definition to the look.

I got these overalls from a vintage store and just rolled up the legs to make them look a bit more finished. You can usually find full length overalls at Value Village or a second hand store and it’s easy to trim off the legs into shorts. Just start long, especially if you want to roll them up like I did. A quick iron on the fold will keep it in place nicely!

Shirt: Aritzia, Overalls: Vintage, similar from Forever 21, Shoes: Steve Madden (similar), Sunnies: Ray Ban, Leather Jacket: H&M (similar)
