I’ve been seeing long layers all over the place lately in fashion! Midi is definitely competing with the mini for attention this fall, and even the top layers have longer hemlines this season.
I was getting all this inspiration at the same time I realized that a bunch of dresses I used to wear to death feel a little shorter on me now than I remember. I’m guessing I haven’t grown in height, but perhaps in other ways where I no longer tolerate garments that could expose me with one wrong move. Did I mention I’m turning 25 this week???
Clearly the solution here was to start layering the old, shorter dresses over top of a longer piece in my wardrobe. It’s a look of the moment but also a way for me to keep wearing things I’ve loved in the past without feeling like I need to constantly adjust them. Basically a win-win situation. It’s also super cozy for fall!
My favourite part about this sweater dress (which I found at value village about 5 years ago and didn’t take off for the entire 1st winter I owned it) are the ties at the bottom. They keep it from being too oversized by cinching in the hem a little.
Have you tried this look yet?
