sneakers with everything

Anyone reading this blog knows I love to be comfortable. There is no better way to do this than by wearing sneakers. Now that the fashion world has totally accepted this casual shoe as something more than just gym attire, it’s easy to put your feet first and still look stylish. When I was in Denmark this past spring, I barely saw a heel or dressy shoe the whole trip. All the women (and men) there were in sneaks and I fell in love with the casual cool of the look.

My favorite part about this trend is that you can wear sneakers with everything – even the unexpected. Of course, you can still pair them with jeans or leggings, but they work with trousers, skirts or dresses as well. In Vancouver, wearing athletic shoes all the time is nothing new, but putting them on with your dress pants is something a bit different to try.

I like to keep things basic/neutral with this look and the rest of the outfit more professional. Dress pants, a nice sweater and a more formal jacket keep the sneakers looking very intentional and not sloppy.

The other thing that is so important is having clean shoes. If you’re having trouble with the white soles, I find using a magic eraser works the best. I’ve also heard of people using hand sanitizer or nail polish remover but the eraser works well for me. Even a great outfit can’t look chic with dirty old trainers, so keep em’ neat and tidy!
