making culottes casual

Although I love these pants (and they are as comfy as wearing sweats!) I had mainly been using them as work attire until now. I like to think I invest in versatile pieces, so it was time to build them into something more casual this past long weekend.

Plaid is a great way to dress down your look, especially with some leather. It’s not often that I pull out bright colour like this anymore, but red plaid is a classic nonetheless. I’ve always liked how it looks with a leather jacket overtop, and though the sun was out in full force I did still need the layers.

Ultimately, any high waisted pant lends itself to a crop top, and this mock turtleneck was a simple and cozy base. As much as I’m excited for spring/summer, now is the time to wear all those knits so embrace it while you still can!

I could have easily gone for my typical black booties, but I’ve been falling back in love with these suede ones lately. I like how they stand out yet still seem to go with everything. They were one of the first things I decided to bring to Santa Barbara actually…can’t wait to take some great photos there later this week!

Culottes: Aritzia, Leather Jacket: Similar from Aritiza ($$$) or Forever 21 ($), Crop Top: Forever 21, similar, Flannel: Forever 21 (similar), Shoes: Clarks, similar from Aldo
