ruffles

Every year it seems more of my wardrobe than ever is geared towards work clothes. While I love (and need!) great professional options, it can get a bit monotonous to focus solely on that one aspect of my life. When I was a single young thing, I had a solid collection of tops which never failed to make me feel pretty for night out dancing, date or drinks with friends. The flirty top is something that has seriously been lacking in my closet the past few seasons, and I finally did something about it.

Ruffled styles have been popping up everywhere for spring/summer, and this is my favourite thus far. Colour + strapless is a pretty out of the box for me, but I was swayed by the gorgeous pale blue. When going out on a limb, it’s helpful to take mental stock of your closet and think of a few outfits your new piece will work with. I loved the top with these culottes, but will also throw it on with light wash denim shorts or my button front skirt for a more casual vibe. If you have a hard time visualizing how things will look, check the return policy, take that sucker home and have a little no pressure try on session before committing.

Even if you’re mostly a homebody like me, it’s fun to have a top like this to pull out whenever the occasion calls. Perfect vacation addition too! Funny how my packing list keeps growing…
