knee high gladiator DIY

I have a pair of gladiator sandals from last summer, but this year I felt like they were falling a little short. When I bought them, I was looking for a pair that tied up to the knee but the price and being practical led me to go for ankle height. I do love them (and got quite a bit of wear as is), but still had thoughts of something a little higher.

Luckily for me, it’s a easy fix to have the best of both worlds! It would have been silly to get another pair, so I just jacked these up with some extra leather from the craft store. They have a ton of colours so it wasn’t hard to find a match. It was as simple as knotting them together with the existing straps and trimming the excess. I also tied a few extra knots along the way for consistency in the overall look.

Make sure you tie them up tight as I had a bit of slippage at first when I was walking around! This is one of those bolder looks that will get quite a bit of attention so it’s nice to be able to reverse that change easily if you get tired of the knee high style.
