Those of you who follow along on Instagram may know I had a trip planned to Denmark and Italy at the end of April. My boyfriend has been training for a cycling race over there since last year, which was unfortunately cancelled last week. After weighing all our options, we opted for a week in Mexico instead of taking our trip as planned sans race. Even though I can’t wait to relax on the beach, I don’t recommend cancelling a vacation last minute – it’s disappointing, stressful and can be costly.
The upside of the sudden change is the incredible weather I have to look forward to in a few short weeks. It’s going to be 30+ degrees where we are staying and I’m already getting excited to break out all my summer clothes and binge read books in the sunshine.
This off the shoulder dress is something I haven’t even properly been able to wear yet, and will be the first thing in my suitcase. Loose dresses are my absolute favorite hot weather look because they are so breezy require zero effort. This ease is especially important when you’re covered in greasy sunscreen and just can’t be bothered!
I’ve been seeing a lot of neck scarves around and found one of my own at Value Village this week. It’s the ideal item to get second hand and you can usually find a real silk one for under $5. I think it’s a fun way to play off the open neck of this dress, and it certainly solved my problem of how to jazz it up a little. Off the shoulder tops are hard to accessorize. Plus the flight-attendant vibe is travel ready, right?
Watch out for an upcoming post on what I’m packing…
Dress: Aritzia, Scarf: Value Village, similar I love from Aritzia, Shoes: Ecco, Hat: J Crew (if you’re in Van I got mine at the outlet mall for $20)
